Just a note: a way to massively speed this up is to maintain a pool for the RNG output. I've done something like this in my own crypto library: https://github.com/bcoin-org/bcrypto/blob/master/lib/native/random-openssl.js#L65

Though, depending on how the values are used, this may weaken resistance to prediction/backtracking. Assuming every call to randomBytes causes OpenSSL's RNG to re-key, this means that integers from the same pool of accumulated values are part of the same keystream. Typically you want every RNG output to be the result of a different keystream. I suppose more analysis might need to be done here. Or, if this method is chosen, warn about the implications of how the values are utilized.

edit: It's also worth mentioning this article from pcg-random, which explains the many methods for unbiasing integers: http://www.pcg-random.org/posts/bounded-rands.html

There may be something more optimal here, especially if this is implemented in C or C++.

Latest version I pushed behaves like randomBytes, it becomes sync if the callback argument is omitted.

Not sure about this... no strong opinion here. If there's no consensus maybe we could start with the current version and expand functionality in separate pull requests?

Given that this explicitly works with ints, i think we should make it use bigint and remove the range limitations. If someone wants a double afterwards they can wrap it with Number().

I made min and max both inclusive in latest push, it matches python's randint and probably less confusing.
