Improve Editor UI Styling for Better Visual Appeal and User Experience

The current appearance of the editor is not very aesthetically pleasing. It feels a bit plain and lacks visual refinement.

I would like to enhance the overall styling of the editor to make it look more modern and user-friendly. This includes improvements to foreground and background styling, spacing, layout, and visual hierarchy.

Goals:

• Make the editor visually more attractive and pleasant to use.
• Improve the clarity and readability of content.
• Create a more consistent and polished UI experience.
• Potentially align the style with the rest of the application or modern design guidelines.

These changes are meant to improve both the visual feel and usability of the editor, especially for users who work with it frequently or for long periods.

We should continue putting more effort into the UI until the project is completed.
Feel free to either create a new issue or pick another one to fix in the meantime.
In my opinion, UI improvements are practically never-ending.
I’d also like to tweak the menu layout and other related parts.

Hey! I've been poking around the codebase and think keeping this open as an ongoing tracker is the right call - UI stuff is never really finished anyway.

A few things I'd like to tackle first since they seem like quick but gut improvments:

• The text area has zero internal padding right now, text sits right at the edge, which feels cramped
• The toolbar buttons all blur together — some separators between the font controls, formatting buttons and the rest would help a lot
  -A small status bar at the bottom (line/col, word count) would add a nice touch without touching anything existing

Anything you'd want prioritized before I start working on it ? Also, is it cool to keep the issue open and just reference it in PRs rather than closing it?

Your observations make a lot of sense. The lack of padding in the text area and the toolbar buttons blending together are indeed things that could improve the overall usability. Adding separators between the different groups of toolbar buttons also sounds like a very good idea.

The small status bar (line/column and word count) is also a nice improvement, especially since it can be added without affecting the existing functionality.

I don't have a strict priority order at the moment, so feel free to start with whichever of these changes you think is easiest or most impactful.

And yes, keeping this issue open as a general UI improvement tracker sounds perfectly fine to me. UI work is rarely ever truly "finished", so referencing this issue in future PRs would be a good approach.
