Summary

Create WASM/WASI-based extensions that can override or enhance critical platform functionality (checkout, recommendations, asset management, etc.).

Scope

In scope:

• WASI extension host in the API layer
• Extension hooks: checkout, recommendation engine, asset/image management
• OCI vs WASM distribution analysis and decision record

Out of scope:

• App marketplace (tracked separately [Initiative] App Marketplace #33)

Acceptance Criteria

• Extension host can load and execute a WASI module
• At least two hook points are implemented and tested
• OCI vs WASM trade-off is documented as an ADR
• Extensions are sandboxed with no host file-system access
