Already shipped. The GNOME Shell extension lives in gnome/ on main and matches the macOS menubar's UI (popover with hero number, period tabs, activity / models / findings sections, optimize integration).

Install:

chmod +x install.sh
./install.sh

# Wayland: log out + back in. X11: Alt+F2 → r → Enter
gnome-extensions enable codeburn@codeburn.dev

Requirements: GNOME Shell 45+, codeburn CLI on PATH (npm i -g codeburn), glib-compile-schemas. Read the gnome/README.md for configuration options.

Caveat: GNOME Shell only for now. KDE Plasma / XFCE / panels other than GNOME aren't covered. If that's what you're on, let me know which DE and I'll either pin it to a separate issue or take a look.

Update - reopening this so we can use it as a feedback thread.

Linux support is already shipped as a GNOME Shell extension under gnome/. It's a full popover that mirrors the macOS menubar (hero cost, period tabs, activity / models / findings sections, optimize integration).

Could you give it a try and report back? Specifically I'd love to know:

1. Does the install run cleanly on your distro? Quote any error from ./install.sh or glib-compile-schemas if it complains.
2. After enabling, is the panel icon visible and does the popover open with real numbers?
3. UI feedback - anything cramped, mis-aligned, slow, or visually broken vs the macOS screenshots in the README?
4. Refresh behavior - does the cost number update on its own, or only when you reopen the popover?
5. Your environment: GNOME Shell version (gnome-shell --version), Wayland or X11, distro.

If you're on KDE / XFCE / Hyprland / something else, tell us which DE and we'll scope a separate ticket — the GNOME work is the foundation but other panels need their own integration.
