BIP 343: change status from deployed to closed#2187
Conversation
As a co-author I would like to move this BIP's status to Closed due to its current irrelevance and lack of any known deployments on the network. If I could I would delete it fully, or better yet go back in time to prevent it from being written.

You'll need to update the README as well.

Per BIP 3: A BIP may evolve from Deployed to Closed when it is no longer in active use. Any community member may initiate this Status update by announcing it to the mailing list[^bip-announcements-to-list], and proceed if no objections have been raised for four weeks. It might be a good idea to announce this proposed change to the mailing list. |

Shinobi would not refer to himself as Shi_t_nobi, so I doubt that this is actually him.
I also don’t think it would be useful to notify the mailing list about a metadata change to a BIP specifying alternate deployment parameters for Taproot, more than four years since Taproot activated.
I think it’s reasonable to move this BIP to closed, because it’s no longer relevant, but I don’t think this PR is a serious attempt.

...I question how well you know me now @murchandamus. Attesting post from Twitter: https://x.com/brian_trollz/status/2061607226150621674?s=20 |

Sorry, I thought it was an impostor. |
|
@Shitnobi: I fixed the table entry and added a minimal Changelog to record the reason it was moved to Closed. Please let me know if that looks right to or feel free to amend it to your preference. |

Looks good to me, much appreciated Murch. |

Thanks for the quick review. |
