Im seeing this too now Atom crashes as randomly when a file is opened from the tree view.

This seems related to a recent update from ubuntu, I updated to the latest atom at the same time.

One issue that might be unrelated is caused by atom using an interactive shell, as soon as it loads it picks up my user .bashrc file and starts trying to execute every line in all the included files, including lines that are commented or entirely '#'.

Its possible something is wrong in my environment, but I tried several things to bypass the the atom process loading my config files. I also started logging the environment for every new interactive shell process. I picked out some sections of the logs that might be useful. If there's any response here, I can post the process logs with the command args, threads environment when this is happening .
