Introduction

Different optimization problems need to be solved for operating AWE systems efficiently. Examples:

  • What is the best flight path for ship propulsion? This might depend on the wind speed, ship speed, wind shear, wind veer and wind direction.
  • What is the best flight path for AWE systems in pumping mode of operation? This will be different for soft-wing and rigid wing systems.
