Precondition:

• Have two non-default workspaces and no default workspace
• Have self DM

1. Go to self DM
2. Create an expense without category
3. Open the expense thread
4. Click Category
5. On workspace selector page, select any workspace
6. On category list, click RHP back button
7. Verify that you are NOT navigated back to default workspace selector page
8. Verify that you are navigated to expense details page

Note: If you are seeing error when you are creating expense in selfDM follow these steps as a workaround

1. Navigate to a workspace chat
2. Create 2 manual expenses
3. Open the expenses thread report
4. Click on more button
5. Delete the report
6. Go to to selfDM
7. Create a manual expense without category
8. Open the expense thread
9. Click Category
10. On workspace selector page, select any workspace
11. On category list, click RHP back button
12. Verify that you are NOT navigated back to default workspace selector page
13. Verify that you are navigated to expense details page

• If a new code pattern is added I verified it was agreed to be used by multiple Expensify engineers

Yes, I agree. I it doesn't seem to be related to our PR since our PR only changes the backTo route passed to navigate call. The root cause of the issue doesn't seem to be related with our change. You can refer the root cause here > #75612 (comment)
