Action Performed:

1. Go to staging.new.expensify.com
2. Go to workspace chat.
3. Create an expense.
4. Go to Spend > Reports.
5. Expand the report.
6. Go offline.
7. Click View on the expense.
8. Delete the expense.

Expected Result:

Report and expense will be grayed out with strikethrough style after deleting expense offline.

Actual Result:

Only checkmark, total and action button with no report title is shown after deleting expense offline.

⚠️ Confidence: Medium. The render mechanism below is verified with file:line evidence. The exact reason the report name becomes empty during the optimistic delete still needs a quick runtime confirmation (see "Verify before merging").

Please re-state the problem that we are trying to solve in this issue.

After deleting an expense offline from Spend > Reports (expanded report group header), the report/expense title vanishes — only the checkmark, total, and action button remain. Expected: the row stays visible, grayed-out with strikethrough.

What is the root cause of that problem?

The group header renders the title and the checkbox / total / action button as independent siblings. When the title string evaluates to empty, only the title sub-tree is dropped — the siblings keep rendering, which is exactly the reported symptom.

• HeaderFirstRow lays out the Checkbox, the title (ReportSearchHeader), TotalCell, and ActionCell side-by-side: ReportListItemHeader.tsx:137-201
• The title block is gated on a truthy title: AvatarWithDisplayName.tsx:298 → {!!report && !!title && ( … )}
• title comes from AvatarWithDisplayName.tsx:202 → getReportName(report, reportAttributes), defined at ReportNameUtils.ts:1087, which returns '' when neither the derived reportAttributes[reportID].reportName nor report.reportName is present.

During an offline delete of the only expense in a one-transaction expense report, the optimistic Onyx update leaves the search-snapshot row in place (so the header still renders) but the report name resolves to '', so the whole title sub-tree is hidden while the siblings remain. This view is new in PR #92067 (GroupHeader.tsx, which passes the raw snapshot groupItem straight to the header — GroupHeader.tsx:99,235), which is why it only reproduces here.

What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem?

Keep the title rendering (with strikethrough) during the pending-delete state instead of dropping it. The cleanest options:

1. Preferred — fix the empty name at the source. Ensure the report object reaching the header retains a non-empty reportName while the delete is optimistic (so getReportName falls back to report.reportName). The optimistic-delete update should not strip the name the row still needs to display.
2. If a localized component fix is preferred, fall back to the snapshot name in the title gate for this header path so the row renders + gets the strikethrough that OfflineWithFeedback already applies. ⚠️ AvatarWithDisplayName is shared app-wide — scope any change carefully and regression-test other report headers.

Since this is a deploy blocker on a brand-new feature, reverting PR #92067 is also a valid fast path if a clean fix isn't quickly verifiable.

Verify before merging (raises confidence to High)

Reproduce the offline delete and confirm what title (and report.reportName) evaluate to at AvatarWithDisplayName.tsx:202 — i.e. confirm title === ''. This pins down whether the fix belongs in the optimistic-delete data (option 1) or the render path (option 2).

Note: useLiveRowCapabilities (dropped by the new GroupHeader) only refreshes action booleans (action, canPay, canApprove, …) — not reportName — so re-adding it would not fix the title.

What alternative solutions did you explore?

• Re-introducing useLiveRowCapabilities in GroupHeader — ruled out; it does not touch reportName.
